the letter to the class (who will act as the cadres you hope to convince), so be persuasive and

2. Analysis
One way of evaluating this activity is to compare students’ self-evaluations of their
involvement in this exercise with those of the instructor. In order to do this, I adapted an in-class
activity self -evaluation form from two of my colleagues in the Psychology Department at
Moravian College.
19
The form is as follows:
This evaluation is based upon your participation in the in-class activity.
Part I: Class Participation. On the scales below, circle the item that best describes the extent of
your personal contribution to the class.
A. Verbal Participation (small and large group):
1 Not at all
2 Some 3Active
4 Very Active
B. Nonverbal Participation (active listening and/or thoughtful analysis):
1 Not at all
2 Some 3 Active
4 Very active
Part II: Completion of Assigned Readings and Discussion Questions. Check the ones that apply.
A. Assigned Readings:
I did the assigned readings for this class session before coming to class.
I did not do the assigned readings for this class session before coming to class.
B. Discussion questions:
I prepared the discussion questions for this class session before coming to class.
I did not prepare the discussion questions before coming to class.
The usefulness of the form lies in its ability to get the students to commit to an evaluation
