Unformatted Document Text:  Elder Hofrenning Seligsohn New Hampshire Primary 39 Assignments and Responsibilities: Group Presentations/Short papers: Throughout the course you will be asked to engage in research on various aspects of the presidential nomination process and present information to the rest of the group. We may also assign short papers that ask you to reflect on the readings, guest lectures and other key events. Internship/volunteer work: to successfully complete this course you are required to work a minimum of 25 hours per week at the campaign/media organization. Our expectations are that you will work hard, be committed to your campaign/organization, behave in a professional manner in carrying out your work, and diligently fulfill any responsibilities assigned to you by your intern coordinator. Weekly Reflective Journals: each week we ask that you turn in a “journal” that critically analyzes and explores the significance of the experiences you have had that week working on your campaign or related organization. You will want to draw on course readings and your broader knowledge of American politics as a basis for your reflections. You may want to consider questions such as “How does the work you did this week fit into the broader campaign for the presidency? What have you learned about politics and elections from your experiences this week?”. Your entries should be reflective and analytical, rather than purely descriptive. Journals entries need to be handed in at the morning meeting on three dates: Friday January 16 th , Friday January 23 rd and Thursday January 29 th . Attendance, Informed Participation and Appropriate Behavior: a significant part of your grade for this course will be based on your attendance and informed participation at all required events including: daily check-ins at the hotel, class sessions, guest lectures, group dinners and others events that will be announced throughout January. This portion of your grade is also based on following all laws, hotel policies and group rules. Final Paper: You are required to write a final paper for this class that combines your experience in New Hampshire with the required readings. More details will be distributed on this assignment during January Term.
