Statement of the issue By 2009 it is expected that 75% or more of existing certified teachers will need to be replaced due to retirement or a change of career. Gallup has repeatedly polled teachers leaving their profession and consistently found that the number one reason given for leaving was “lack of useable knowledge and skills to maintain an orderly, well- disciplined classroom in order to teach.” The number two reason has been lack of support by their local district or building administrator to help them gain this knowledge and ability. Having written 17 books and produced four videos on this topic, I feel confident teacher trainers would appreciate a method to prepare new teachers for the challenges of a diverse student population they will encounter. B. Literature Review Knowledge Base-The program and system has been taught to over 250,000 new and veteran teachers resulting in a 49-87% decrease in office referrals and advancing schools (PK-12) from being barely acceptable to exemplary academic achievement. Competing Hypothesis-Current higher education practice has been to expose future teachers to materials or texts that provide an overview of differing behavior theory, allowing them to investigate, examine and choose the theory that suits their student population or locale (rural, suburban, urban). The problem is the future teacher rarely does further investigation or examination and, thereby, may end up organizing and managing in the manner in which they observed… “sit & get” teaching.
