Abstract
This paper reports on the possibilities of using different pedagogical approaches such as team teaching, inter-institutional group projects, and computer-mediated reading and writing exercises to teach a course entitled "Perspectives on US Foreign Policy in the Middle East." Much of the learning that inspires this experiment is based on two projects coordinated by the investigator. The first initiative involved using semantic databases to deliver two courses on e-government to undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Political Studies at the American University of Beirut in Fall 2003 and Spring 2004. The second project involved running two consecutive eight week experiments with web-conferencing technology to support inter-institutional student dialogue in Fall 2003 and Spring 2004.
