There are many notable instances when top American officials stated their militaristic intentions towards
Iraq with or without any multilateral assistance. These include the comments by Secretary of Defense
Rumsfeld on March 11, 2002 when he suggested that if a second UN resolution was not obtained, the
assistance of the United Kingdom was not required to commence operations. You can see the text of the
