Abstract
In this paper I argue that the recent strategies of transnational and local feminism –
anti-fundamentalism, human security, and gender mainstreaming – when assessed from a
theoretical perspective are problematic. Although there may be strategic reasons that
outweigh these theoretical problems, because of the women’s human rights framework
(or an alternative framework that doesn’t have these problems) needs to be used to guide
the use of these strategies so that they don’t create problems for feminist activists down
the line.
