Abstract:
|
The purpose of the study is to answer the following questions: Although being a small country, how Qatar is maintaining its security and playing a very important role in the Middle East? And how its domestic policy is influencing its foreign policy? In order to answer these questions, I divided the paper into two parts. The first part will deal with internal security of Qatar since 1992, with emphasis on democratization process, and if the Qatari rulers believe in democracy or not. As for the external security, the paper will deal with Qatar’s foreign Policy, focusing on Qatar’s territorial disputes with Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, its cooperation with the United States and Israel, and its relations with Iraq and Iran. And what was the role of Qatar in the latest war on Iraq, and Libya’s decision to destroy its weapons’ of mass destruction. |
