Librarian William Badke provides an excellent website and guidebook for teaching basic research skills. It is especially helpful for search strategy formulation. --Level: remedial to basic.
-- Political scienceLowery, Roger C. and Sue A. Cody. Political Science: Illustrated Search Strategy and Sources with an Introduction to Legal Research for Undergraduates. Ann Arbor: Pierian, 1993. This classic source is co-authored by a political science professor and a reference librarian; it nicely combines political sources, government documents, and legal research; it is very dated re online research, but most basic principles still apply. It is still available at Pierian Press. The publisher informs me, unfortunately, that it has no plans to revise the guide. --Level: all academic.
