The students felt that they were able to truly get a feel of what it means to work in a political office. The majority of students wrote memos, conducted research, talked to constituents, attended hearings and the Citizens Legislative Seminar, and got to work first hand with their legislator. Those who worked for a non-profit organization hand similar tasks which were more specifically related to the issues that their organization was promoting. All recommended their internship sites again; the only minor critique concerning sites was that the students who interned with State Representatives hand more one on one contact and responsibilities within the office then did those working for State Senators. The interns were affected by their experience and the program overwhelmingly enforced their ideas about government and politics. The Politics Unplugged class (which will be a requirement in the fall for the program) was helpful to the students and those that were not able to take the class indicated that they wish that they had been able to while being a part of the internship program.
