A Challenge to the Duel: Socializing Dedicated Virtual Reality Fans to the Ideology of Textualism
Unformatted Document Text:  A Challenge to the Duel 18 person’s capacity to win a challenge. The future is held in reserve and only can be achieved through a game. In talking smack players leave the door open for future play. Smack talk can also be used as a form of adjudication, a further form of creativity that acts as a structural control, but one created by players. Pilots at one entertainment site believed they had a problem with players who were "whining," or who asked for unnecessary replays and rulings. A well-known pilot at the site even announced his "retirement" – he was going to quit playing BattleTech altogether, but he was coaxed back by his friends to implement a unique solution. The retiring pilot returned to announce the formation of a clan. Clans are part of the BattleTech role-playing game, novels, virtual reality background story, and were also featured in the 1994-1995 TV cartoon and comic book series. Pilots also organize themselves into clans to form teams and social cliques, with each clan developing an identity and rules. At tournaments, clans often play against one another to see who is the best team. Clan Seraphim was announced on a public forum: Gabriel, founding father of Clan Seraphim, has sounded his trumpet. The dishonorable ways of THIS SITE are no more. Clan Seraphim has been established for those pilots who follow the [Pilot's] code. It is for those pilots who wish to play the game with honor and will not hesitate to share knowledge with those who are not as skilled. Clan Seraphim does have a mission. It encompasses the following ideals for starters: *The whining is over. *Those who refuse to train other pilots are dishonorable and will be noticed.
