According to the thematic categories developed above, military-oriented and foreign-relation themes are the two dominant news themes. ( Refer to Chart. 4.) Half of the news in the foreign news sector is about these two categories. The following categories are economics (12%), cultural, education and environment (10%), internal politics (9%) and science/technology (9%). Crime and Disaster are of the lowest frequency. This explains why Israel, Palestinian, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, India and Pakistan are among the top frequency countries being covered.
