Maintaining Inter-Organizational Relationships that Build Nations
Unformatted Document Text:  Maintaining Inter-Organizational Relationships 1 Maintaining Inter-Organizational Relationships that Build Civil Society Abstract This paper describes the maintenance of relationships among civil society organizations two years following their participation in the Croatian transformation to a democratic nation. It presents the results of an inter-organizational network analysis among 18 Croatian civil society organizations and compares two points in time. The first point in time was an inter- organizational network analysis during the the democratic elections of 2000 (Author 1, forthcoming). This paper provides the inter-organizational network analysis two years following this election, during a time depicted by maintenance -- not creation -- of civil society and democracy. This paper describes the current status of the system and compares the network changes over time. Network relationships are based on the theories of cooperation-competition and structural holes and describe the roles of various organizations in the maintenance of democracy.
