it is not surprising that the findings indicate a gender income gap. Women journalists
are paid less than their male colleagues (71% women compared to 56% men earn the
lower level of wage - less than 8,000 NIS per month) (

In order to find out whether gender predicts salary level (high salary level - above
8,000 NIS per month and low salary level - under 8,000 NIS per month), a logistic
regression was performed. In addition to gender, three other variables might explain
salary difference: seniority in the job, seniority in the profession and type of job
(writer/non writer). As can be seen in TABLE 2, the findings show that the four
variables are related to salary level. The primary variable is the seniority in the
profession followed by the three other variables: seniority in the job, gender and type of
job. In other words, although gender is not the main predictor of the salary gap, it is a
factor that predicts the chances of men journalists getting a higher salary compared to
women. The likelihood of a male journalist getting a higher salary is twice as high as
that of a female.

. Due to a lack of data concerning
the gendered salary gap in journalism in the past, it is impossible to trace a trend over
time. It can be assumed that because the salary level of Israeli journalists has
