For Whites, campaign messages should incorporate both self-efficacy and social connections in promoting physical activity. On the other hand, enhancing feelings of self-efficacy among Blacks is the first step toward promoting participation in physical activity. Higher self-efficacy leads to better social connections and in turn predict exercise participation. Thus, health campaigns should aim at building a sense of confidence and efficacy among Blacks. Among Hispanics, social connection is an important factor for individual’s participation in physical activity.
