However, this set of hypotheses was not supported. No significant difference was found in male subjects between the control group (M = 5.12, SD = .79) and the ideal model group (M = 5.20, SD = .75), t (38) = - .33, p > .05, which means exposure to idealized male body images had no influence on subjects’ self-esteem. And no significant difference was found in female subjects between control group (M = 4.94, SD = .86) and the female ideal model group (M = 4.78, SD = 1.01), t (57) = .66, p > .05, which means exposure to idealized female body images had no influence on female subjects’ self-esteem, either.
