Earlier, in line 231, DH stated: “I was trying to think of (1.0) how you can be more- you you say you have no social activity.” This trouble of “no social activity” was confirmed by the caller but then she went on to talk of how she is always perceived to look younger than she is. So, again, in lines 261-265, DH paraphrases the “gist” of the caller’s previous reports as a way to get confirmation of the caller’s previously reported ineffective solutions (e.g., activities the caller does) and her previously reported trouble. “I’m askin you” states the working peer’s intentions, for the purpose of the upcoming question is not “to be nosy” but “to help.” DH displays his concern for respecting boundaries and for “helping” the caller solve her problem, which is summarizes as being “depressed all the time.” This upgrading of her problem implies seriousness in the fact that it is
