5. Relationships between the variables of the study. In terms of the weekly use of
Internet the following was found: The students that use Internet in the highest degree
(more than 6 hours weekly) agree that Internet gets them distracted from homework.
(Sig. .01) .
The students that use Internet the least ( less than 30 minutes to 1 hour) use the
Internet to obtain specific information as the main reason for using Internet. The
students that use Internet moderately in the sample ( 1 to 3 hours) use Internet to check
mails; the students that use Internet the most (3 to 6 or more hours) use it to Chat, buy
or entertainment they say (Sig.00).
As to the main purpose of the use Internet; the more the students use Internet to
buy, chat and diversion, the more they agree that Internet helps them work individually.
(Sig. 05).
There was no relationship found between the degree of weekly use of Internet and
the following variables : Degree of social activities during the weekend. Type of
hobbies in terms of social or non social. Number of friends.
The more the students have social activities in their free time , the more they agree
that it is easy to find information in Internet that in other sources. (Sig..04). The more
social activities the students has in their free time, the more they agree that it is better to
work in groups than individually, independently of the degree of use of
Internet.(Sig.004). The more social activities involved in their favorite hobbies, the
more the students disagree that the information of Internet is trustworthy. (Sig.02).
