Model teaching- Using video to capture exemplar teaching practices

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

Although pre-service teacher education programs require field observations and teaching, they cannot always ensure that each teacher candidate observes best practices. This paper outlines a program where university faculty and district-identified exemplar teachers paired up to develop training videos which showcased best teaching practices, content specific pedagogy as well as addressed how to create effective learning environments. The district/university team worked together to identify common novice teacher struggles, and developed activities that allowed teacher candidates to observe, reflect and proactively plan. The paper provides access to the training videos and activities.
