Video Mediated Reflection for Teacher Candidate Instruction for English Language Learners

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

English Language Learners (ELLs) are the fastest growing student population in United States’ public schools, but are the student population that teachers feel the least prepared for. National reports indicate that ELLs frequently perform at or below grade level expectations, are disproportionately represented in special needs programs, and will most-likely be taught by teachers who are unprepared to deliver effective language instruction. This presentation will present a video-mediated reflection protocol that can be used to prepare teacher candidates for effective instruction for ELLs.
