Gene Chasin, University of Connecticut. Dr. Chasin is the director of Accelerated Schools, a model founded at Stanford University, to bring the concepts and practices of gifted and talented education (or accelerated learning) to all learners.
Schools

Rocky Mountain School of Expeditionary Learning, Denver. This is an Expeditionary Learning School implementing student- initiated projects and exhibitions.
•
Eagle Rock School, Estes Park, Colorado. School in the mountains of Colorado, fully funded by Honda Corporation, for at-risk, inner city teenagers from across the country. They have a professional training center as well to train educators in their model.

Fenway High School, Boston. One of the Coalition of Essential Schools, which is a network of high schools dedicated to several clear guiding principles which drive learning, student directed projects, and public presentations of learning.

Mission Hill School, Boston. Founded by Debbie Meier, this is an elementary school where students learn independently, guided by cognitive guiding questions and student directed learning.
•
University of Chicago Lab School. Founded by John Dewey on the campus of the University of Chicago, this school is still in the model of progressive education.
•
High Tech High, San Diego. A school driven by student directed projects in the arts and sciences. The school is a public, charter school with considerable infusion of technology and financial support from local corporations and businesses. This model is being replicated in many parts of the country.

Southwest High School International Baccalaureate, Minneapolis. A public Minneapolis high school implementing the IB program.

Patrick Henry High School International Baccalaureate, Minneapolis.
•
Rufus King International Baccalaureate High School, Milwaukee. An entire high school in the inner city of Milwaukee implementing IB.

Key School, Indianapolis, Indiana. This is a K-12 public school founded on the theory of multiple intelligences by Howard Gardner.
