Abstract:
|
Disability law has become a major international human rights issue of increasing interest to legal scholars, social scientists, government officials and educators. To respond to the growing need for a comprehensive guide to research sources of value to an interdisciplinary audience, and to fill a void in the current literature, I have developed the International, Comparative and Foreign Disability Law Research Guide (which will be published in a forthcoming special issue of the SYRACUSE JOURNAL OF INTERNATIONAL LAW AND COMMERCE).
I propose a dynamic poster presentation to: 1) demonstrate, in graphic form, the major international and regional bodies and instruments relating to disability; 2) illustrate key Internet sources for national disability law; 3) introduce and systematize for participants the disparate, highly interdisciplinary secondary source material on the topic (including reference sources, statistics, texts and treatises, journals, databases, reports and studies of non-governmental organizations, and current events, and ; 4) provide participants with an opportunity to inquire about research sources and methods in their own areas of interest. |
