It may be worth noting that we also looked at trends in CROPLAND (which is a more precise
measure than farmland), but decided that the patterns were very similar to farmland and that farmland
was a more universal measure that applied equally well across all US farming regions (especially in
regions where cropland is less important and range/pasture is more important).

We did conduct a cluster analysis of our three criteria and results similar to those generated by our
three way classification matrix.
