Does Victim Race Affect Police Clearance of Violent Crime Cases?

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Get this Document | Similar Titles

Abstract:

In looking at the literature regarding police clearance rates, little has been done to discover if the race of the victim has any effect on whether or not the police clears a case. Using the National Crime Victimization Survey, this study will show whether the race of a violent crime victim affects police case clearance. It also examines if this relationship is conditioned by other factors such as offender characteristics and other demographic information.
