Abstract:
|
This paper examines data from in-depth interviews with 19 marginalized battered women in order to better understand what factors influence their help-seeking decisions. Using a grounded theory approach, this analysis aims to establish a theoretical framework for understanding battered womens help-seeking. In particular, the key theoretical development suggested by this analysis is that childhood victimization experiences can play an important role in shaping adult help-seeking behaviors. Research and policy implications of this finding will be addressed. |
