Recruiting Students from Diverse Populations into the Teaching Profession: A School-Community College-University Preparation Model

Methods: After a PowerPoint presentation of the concepts under examination and the results derived from the project, the participants will be asked to share their experiences, thoughts, and expertise concerning the following areas covered within the session: • The role of the community college within a partnership to address the teacher shortage (i.e., especially with students from under-represented backgrounds), improve the teacher preparation process, and provide additional resources to the partnership. • Examples of other partnership that have involved community colleges and the resources offered. • Explain and provide examples of other partnership activities, data, results, and future plans in the area of teacher recruitment from the community college perspective. • Provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions and relate details of similar projects and/or partnerships.
