Abstract:
|
Thematic, integrated curriculum and instruction is a well-established approach to curriculum and instruction in elementary education. Developing lessons around a theme provides a focus for integrating two or more subjects, usually core content areas like language arts and social studies. This session will demonstrate ways to move beyond core curricula to make the most of thematic teaching and learning with music and movement. By collaborating with specialists in music and physical education, teacher educators, preservice teachers, and classroom teachers can develop units that meet standards in all areas and enrich the learning experiences of all students. |
