Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to investigate several key aspects of students’ academic and social life at Emmanuel College. Initial expectations and overall satisfaction within the college was analyzed. The researchers were interested in what factors led to how content students’ were with their social life and why. To get a broad range of data, several techniques were used including in-depth interviews, independent observations, focus groups and surveys. Upon finding what factors enhanced students’ social life the researchers wanted to find where students socialize and how vital a role location played in developing a strong social life. Because the environment in which one lives is such an important part of one’s life the researchers really wanted to explore how social satisfaction differed among those who lived on and off campus. The study concludes with suggestions to further enhance students’ social life at Emmanuel College in the future.
