Definition of Terms The following definitions are provided to ensure uniformity and understanding of these terms throughout the study. Assessment tool: Seventy-four item multiple choice survey. Political education: instruction of political knowledge, intellectual skills, participation skills, and attitudes (Patrick, 1977:193). Cognitive ability: mean percentage score on 10- item verbal ability measure (Wilson and Gove, 1999). Political knowledge: concepts, information, and factual judgments about government and politics (Patrick, 1977: 194).
