"Organizing" as a Political Education

With the above mentioned concerns, current deliberation experiments performed in some university classes by the US deliberative democracy researchers can be compared with the organizing class. Those experiments have shown that students have become more interests in public or political subjects because of the deliberation experience. However, in the respect of organizing-centered approach, those results have clear limitations to cultivate independent citizens. Students still remain in deliberation as an organized being which needs to be fit for the certain established circumstance by the moderator. If organizing class takes the deliberation experiment, the class would make several moderators who are about to organize deliberation forum out of the classroom. And By letting students choose forum agenda, the class would strengthen students’ agenda setting capability rather than improving deliberation capability of them. 5) Politics back in our neighbors One of the most important lessons from the organizing class is that the politics is always in our neighbors. Politics does not exclusively belong to the professional politicians, but belongs to all of us, especially political science major students who study political principle and phenomena. Political activity is accessible with every kind of majors in the University. Political subject is all of us and the realm of politics is everywhere nearby us beyond the boundaries in which the mass media reports or politicians talks. Another response after class is that students realized political activity is fruitful one, which can make things change. Local society made it possible that students have face to face encountering and grasp the thing in a very concrete way. 10
