Korean voters’ issue voting behavior in the 16th Korean presidential election
Unformatted Document Text:  Traditionally, issue voting has been considered as more sophisticated behavior compared with the vote choice only depending on party loyalty or region (in Korean case). However, this paper confirms the argument of A. Non-Issue Voters: Neither “region + SOFA” nor “region + transferring the capital city + North Korea nuclear weapon” models have smaller predictive error than “region only” (28.9 percent of all voters). B. Easy-Issue Voters: “region + transferring the capital city + North Korea nuclear weapon” is a better predictor than “region only” but “region + SOFA” is not (15.2 percent of all voters). C. Hard-Issue Voters: “region + SOFA” is a better predictor than “region only”, but “region + transferring the capital city + North Korea nuclear weapon” is not (23.0 percent of all voters). D. Constrained-Issue Voters: Both “region + transferring the capital city + North Korea nuclear weapon” and “region + SOFA” improve upon the “region only” prediction (32.9 percent of all voters).
