A potential bridge between the two theoretical approaches is found in the institutional
features of the cabinet and cabinet performance. If the performance of cabinets is related to
certain cabinet attributes, we can establish the bridge between the two approaches. Nevertheless,
the relationship between the institutional features and the performance is not evident. Tsebelis
(2002) assumes that the economic performance of less fragmented and polarized cabinets is
better than more fragmented and polarized ones since they can more quickly respond to varying
economic situations; however, prompt responses do not always guarantee successful outcomes.
We need to substantiate the relationship with theoretical and empirical evidence.

Most theories about government stability derive from the experience of parliamentary
democracies in Western Europe. However, since in presidential regimes the president and
parliament do not rely on mutual confidence and the terms of the president and legislators are
constitutionally fixed, the reasons for the end of cabinets in presidentialism may be different
from those in parliamentarism .
