Economic Inequality, Interpersonal Trust, and Support for Redistributive Policies in Latin America

As mentioned before, one of the hypotheses of this study is that interpersonal trust encourages solidarity and therefore support for public policies that benefit the poor, regardless of individuals’ economic situation. The normative question that this study asks is how the curvilinear relationship shown in Figure 5 can be made to look more like a flat line at a high value of support for redistribution. As mentioned before, one of the hypotheses of this study is that interpersonal trust
encourages solidarity and therefore support for public policies that benefit the poor, regardless of
individuals’ economic situation. The normative question that this study asks is how the
