Abstract:

Describing a third-year university Spanish class in which heritage speakers wrote, designed and performed puppet shows and oral stories for Spanish-speaking children in the Inland Empire of Southern California, this presentation argues that performance-based community service learning projects can lead to increased oral proficiency in heritage speakers of Spanish.
