Abstract:

In season three The King of Queens, Doug’s union and his employer, International Parcel Services (IPS), are unable to negotiate a contract, and the union goes on strike. The show examines effects of the strike on the couple. The author concludes that past categorizations of union stereotypes and distortions insufficiently capture the complexities of the portrayal presented in The King of Queens.
