Emasculation, Subversion and Remasculinization: An Analysis of Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

This paper examines how the 2004 film, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, subverts the image of the emasculated Asian male body that has been constructively shaped by Orientalist discourse, U.S. immigration policies, and labor practices. While the narrative of the film initially appears to perpetuate the image of the emasculated Asian male body, the story arc ultimately reveals modes of subversion to this feminized image and a remasculinization of the Asian male.
