Migration, Crime and Imprisonment in Europe and the United States in Times of Crisis: Working Toward a Proposal for Comparative Research

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

There are striking dissimilarities between the ways in which the relationships between crime, punishment and migration have been shaping up in the United States and in the European Union. Likewise for the different contribution of so-called “first” and “second” “generations” of migrants to both crime and processes of criminalisation. This is a concept-paper that tries to outline the ways in which such differences could be conceptualized and studied, paying particular attention to the current situation of economic crisis and comparing it to previous similar situations.
