Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

Undoubtedly, there is a lack of information on male victims of intimate partner violence (IPV), and even less is known about male victims of IPV who seek a restraining order against their female intimate partner. Men who obtained a restraining order against their female intimate partner were the focus of the present study. This study sought to contribute to a better understanding of the experiences of these men, who are often neglected by criminal justice practitioners, social service providers, and academic researchers. Specifically, this study explored: 1) the characteristics of men who obtain and withdraw protection orders against female intimate partners, and 2) their reasons for obtaining and withdrawing protection orders.
