Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

The University of Florida has developed a P-20 service leadership partnership that introduces the field of education and educational leadership to groups of college students often underrepresented in the field of educational administration. CAMP Gator (Collegiate Achievement Mentoring Program) has selected collegiate student-leaders from a variety of academic majors and has given them the opportunity to partake in educational leadership training while serving as a mentor to an at-risk middle school student. Early results have shown C.A.M.P. Gator mentoring to be very successful, demonstrating a 28% increase in attendance, 13% increase in grade point average and a staggering 70% decrease in suspensions amongst the middle-school student participants.
