Abstract:

This paper presents findings from a study of superintendents’ development of professional learning communities as a way to improve quality curriculum and improve student academic performance in rural schools. Qualitative research methods were used to gain a contextualized understanding of how professional learning communities are conceived and experienced in rural schools.
