Bolstering Student Engagement Through the Inclusion of Voice: A Case Study of Data-Driven Decision Making

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

Data-driven decision-making (DDDM) enables teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to address student learning based on documented evidence rather than merely practitioner intuition. Less attention has been paid, however, to students’ roles in DDDM. This study focused on a total of ten schools that were exemplars of DDDM and examined students' roles in DDDM. We conducted over 150 individual interviews of administrators, teachers, and other key personnel. We found multiple examples in using data to target student engagement. We use these results to begin work on an emerging framework for student engagement in DDDM.
