Multi-Agency Responses to Sexual Violence in the UK

Abstract:

Drawing upon quantitative and qualitative data from several research studies, this poster will provide an overview of the current multi-agency arrangements in place to support victims of sexual violence in the UK. Specifically, the implementation of Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs) and the use of Independent Sexual Violence Advocates (ISVAs) will be described.These initiatives are at the forefront of current British policy responses to sexual violence and both employ multi-agency partnerships in an attempt to achieve their aims of providing support and information to victims whilst also improving criminal justice outcomes such as prosecution and conviction of sexual offenders..Data from recent evaluations of these intiatives will be used to discuss their effectiveness.
