What Kind of Book is Needed?

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

The premise of the book is that we know schools are places that are thick with ethical conflicts/ multiple dimensions, but what we’re trying to do with this book is to look at how we weave ethics into this—how we can use ethics as a leader. Perhaps this book should pull together a number of apparently disparate issues—it will address leading school success and taking / positioning the leader’s ethics as a key part of school success.

Potential Chapter Headings:

-Ethics and expectations/ ethical expectations

- The Ethic/Ethical expression—finding voice

- Living in an ethical vacuum vs. recognition of multiple ethical conflicts

- School design—what about an ethical design? How do we build ethics into the design of the school?

- Stories of ethical success

- Whose ethics? Ethical density? (students challenging the ethical implications of a school’s actions)

- Ethics overload/ethical overload

- Guarding ethical behavior

- Ethical or ethics alignment/aligning ethics

- Modeling ethics

- Ethical disconnections—how our ethics can become disconnected from what happens in the school
