Assessing Convergent Validity Between the Static-99 and Static-2002

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

The Static-99 is an empirically validated risk assessment tool designed to predict sexual re-offending among adult male sex offenders. Research suggests that the Static-99 has respectable psychometric properties, including superior predictive validity compared to similar measures. The Static-2002 was developed to enhance the predictive validity of the Static-99, but it is unclear if the Static-2002 correlates with the original measure. Total scores for both measures were obtained from 81 male sex offenders, and the results revealed a moderate correlation between the Static-99 and Static-2002 total scores. The implications of these results in terms of construct validity and practice are discussed.
