Addiction Severity Index Scores and Urine Drug Screens at Baseline as Predictors of Graduation from Drug Court

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

Drug court graduation rates are impressive, but it is unclear whether these rates result from low baseline severity of drug use problems or from treatment provided in drug court. This study examined the ability of baseline drug composite scores on the Addiction Severity Index (ASI), baseline urine screens, demographic variables, presence of Antisocial Personality Disorder, and previous drug treatment to predict graduation among 251 drug court clients. A binary logistic regression yielded the ASI drug score, urine screen, race, and education as statistically significant predictors of graduation. Chi-square analyses confirmed relationships between ASI and graduation, and urine screen and graduation.
