Abstract:

Data were collected from 220 community members in the 12th Judicial Circuit of Florida. Results revealed main effects of capital defendant attractiveness and gender on jurors’ verdict and sentence preferences. In addition, the data showed the presence of interactions between capital defendant attractiveness and gender on participants’ verdict and sentence preferences. Finally, level of support for the death penalty and death-qualification status were related to respondents’ verdict and sentence preferences.
