Women Do What? An Overview of Female Sex Offenders

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

This portion of the symposium will address current knowledge pertaining to the sex offender that society and the criminal justice system continually struggles with: the female. Though hard to research and gain qualitative insight upon, female sex offenders come in many forms. They are also notorious for high occurrences of psychological disorders. Since this is a difficult population to access due to underreporting, the criminal justice system seems unprepared at this time to fully enmesh with pursuance of gender-responsive needs as well as proper charges. Most current statistics, characteristics, typologies, legal challenges and issues unique to this population are addressed.
