Assessment of risk among ethnically diverse sexual offenders

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

The present study seeks to explore ethnic differences among sex offenders. This is the first study to compare and contrast Caucasian, African American, and Latino sex offenders on a wide range of information, including Static – 99 scores. We have found significant differences in total and individual item scores on the measure. Once the rest of the data are coded, we will conduct analyses of the subjects’ criminal histories and indications of sexual deviance, which will then be compared to the level of risk, as assessed by the Static – 99. Implications for assessment and treatment will be discussed.
