Abstract:

With the rapid economic development in China from late 1970s, the social change has led to series social issues, including the change of social class, the change of social value, etc. This proposal describes a proposed study which will extend the existing understanding of the relationship between the rapid social change, social stratification and the influence on people’s educational value in urban China with a special focus on the urban residents and the internal migrants in Beijing. It aims to clarify the educational value from various social groups in the urban society. Moreover, it is supposed to examine the causal relationships between different social status of various social groups and their value of children’s education in urban China.
