Information Bias and Support for ESDP

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

While the importance of the question of what are the main determinants of support for ESDP (European Security and Defense Policy) is focused by several scholars, there have been only a few limited attempts to deal with individual level heterogeneity. This paper addresses the public opinion consistency on security and defense issues among European countries. Based on the Special Eurobarometer dedicated to ESDP, we will show if there exists an information bias in the core determinants of support for ESDP. We will measure the influence of such information in the preference formation of EU respondents by considering the differences between information leaders (elites) and information followers (non elites).
