Fantasizing Sex and Sexuality: Framing Sexual Content As Product of Imagination

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Similar Titles

Abstract:

This mixed-methodology study was conducted due to the increasing media influences on our knowledge and perceptions of sex. While the literature shows exaggerated sexual content, no work has empirically addressed today's sexual content as fantasized. The research investigates if some of the media's sexual content is fantasized. It shows quantitatively how some of the sexual content is not only being exaggerated but fantasized in two ways: the pursuit of beauty reinforcing sexual fantasia and sex as a practice of pleasure. The qualitative semiotic analysis shows some of the elements that give media text a perfect sexual fantasia.
